It load up on the Mac side and I thought it had downloaded Windows so I hit the Restart as Windows button and now it's stuck on "Disc Error. Press any key to restart" screen. I went to Samsung.com and got a hold of there customer service to ask about there smartphone and how it works. I asked the customer service rep if the phones voice and text will work without data. He said yes, I then asked if the camera and camcorder will still work without data. He said yes. Than I asked if you can still download movies and games from your computer using your USB cord without using data. He said yes. He also told me that not all but most apps work with out data. He said the phone was designed for the everyday consumer and the business man. You can deactivate the data and just use the Wi-Fi , but will only work in Wi-Fi hot spots. So, I asked him why I can't buy the phones for my family without data plan. He said he is not sure and I need to ask my provider. I called Blackberry asked the same questions and got the same answer! I called Sprint back and told them that I contacted Samsung and Blackberry and told them the features we are wanting and if it require data to work, the they said no and explained to me what was required to run on data. I told them my family and I really have no interest in getting the internet. You can disable the data and sell me the phone with my grandfather plan. They said they will not sell me the phone without the data plan. I asked them if I bought the phone from somewhere else will they activate my phone they said not without a data plan. I told them the things I want to use on the phone like 5.0 mp camera & great camcorder, being able to download movies and games from my computer, calender and check list that don't require data ... Your telling me we can't have these things without paying for a data plan! Why am I paying $30 per phone more a month! So, you are telling me that I do not have the rights to buy this phone using your service? I can understand if the company explains to the consumers what they get with the data plan and let them choose if they want to purchase the plan! But for other consumers who whats the phone for non data use and is on a limited budget should have the right to buy the phone without changing there plan! I manually moved all my files to an external hard drive using finder then deleted files from computer. I've now moved the files back onto my computer. I opened my project in iMovie and although i can see it their, it won't play. It has small yellow triangles with exclamation marks in all my clips. It says it because the original clips can't be found. However, the clips are still in the folders and i can view them individually unedited but can only do this through Quicktime. iMovie needs the files to work but won't seem to open them no matter what i do, please Help! I did claim it once or twice on insurance(accidental destruction) no problem and Assuion sent me another asap. One of the sell features the manager used to convince me at the time was that it did NOT need a data plan to function, and it seems according to Verizon that it is the only one that didn't. Now the bad news Assurion has no more available, and it took a drop in the toilet bowl last month. I put it on the defrosters to my truck and dried it out fine, and it worked ok up till now with progressively worse little weird bugs since then, and now my phone only works on speaker, I cannot hear other people otherwise. Besides all the buttons are worn off on both edges due to "holster wear"- I have been dreading replacing it and have delayed as Verizon has a new data only plan for all new smart phones @ 30$ a month, which I cannot afford by my budget. I am already paying 120$ a month for a family plan , my wife and I, it's our only phone. I tried to make an Assurion claim yesterday and after 2 hours of arguing with them and Verizon on the phone they gave me no other options. I REALLY DON"T want a separate pda, then a phone, and I REALLY don't want a Data plan ( it's like forcing some one to buy a/c on their vehicle in Alaska and charging rent for it to boot). I would have canceled Assurion long time ago if I had known for sure but someone there (I called), told me a year ago that .." we will just have to give you something that matches and Verizon will just have to waive the data plan", but now they all have changed their tune. I told them that they were in "breach of contract" as they could not provide me with an equally function device as they promised as according to Verizon all the new smart-phones need data to function, and I wanted all of my insurance $$$ refunded from my last claim- 2 years, boy you should have heard all the different semantic language sidestepping they all tried to get out of it, but I wouldn't let them, as "EQUALLY FUNCTIONING DEVICE" was the keywords and nothing else works(FUNCTIONS) without data. I have seen some Motorla q's on Ebay but Assurion will NOT reimburse me if I buy one, and how long will they continue to be available? and Verizon won't budge on their data only @ 30$/month.- Verizon did refund me 30$ for Assurion fees but it should have been more like 250$( I am still fighting for more,good luck right!?). However, a while ago a crack appeared near the magsafe port, and after a little while it no longer charged. I took it to the store 13 days before the warranty ran out and they happily repaired it. However, only the magsafe adapter was replaced and the crack itself wasn't fixed, and one month later it stopped charging again. The CD adapter has also been broken for a while which has been quite a headache. However, I really loved my Macbook while I used it. It lasted the longest of any laptop I'd owned and used regularly. It's very light and portable which is great when I need to carry it to school and between houses all the time. Not to mention it was surprisingly powerful, being able to run MMOs inside of Parallels with less lag than my Toshiba. The thing is, now that the white Macbook has been discontinued, my options are the Macbook Pro and the Macbook Air... I just plain dislike the Air, as I've used my sister's and it's slow as molasses, and the Macbook Pro seems cumbersome to carry with me with the larger size and aluminum (with the 13 inch Pro being a Macbook "Pro" if anything from what I've heard) not to mention very expensive. But with all the physical issues with my white Macbook it seems like it might just be time to retire it, since as much as I don't want a new laptop it would be nice to have a computer that could read CDs again... So what do you say? Just fork over the cash to repair the Macbook, bite the bullet and get a clunky (but probably more durable) Macbook Pro, or maybe get a white Macbook refurbished? I've upgraded it to Windows 7 Ultimate. Now I've decided I need a more powerful computer so I've chosen a Dell desktop with an 8GB hard drive. I'm supposed to get it sometime this month and I plan to use my current computer primarily for gaming such as the Sims 2, Sims 3, Sims Medieval and The Elder Scrolls IV & V. So what is the best and fastest way to transfer my files. I do have to largely clean out more than 5,000 files (Literally) but I'm still gonna have a few thousand left. Is there a cable I can buy to connect and transfer the files. Or do I have to take forever and do it with a USB stick? It all started when I installed OS X Lion the startup was really slow and I figured out it was slow because I didn't do a clean install for it. Then after a while, it got slower and slower. My Macbook gets stuck on the Grey Apple logo with the loading wheel for a loonng time, i'm talking about 3 hours long! I've noticed that the more I hard restarted the Macbook (Held the power button until it turned off) the Macbook got slower. I nearly tried everything. From repairing the disk permission to completley resetted my Macbook to factory settings and it still didn't work! I'm guessing now it must be a Hardware issue but if not please help me with this one! Thanks! They said my modem was working as they checked it their end, but said they were not responsible for my belkin router. I have been into COMET today as I was going to buy a new router, but they asked me if I was on a cable connection or telephone line connection with virgin media. I didnt know the answer, so came home empty handed. And still I am unable to connect my lovely new laptop to the internet. What is the answer? I know its not the laptop as I can connect at other peoples houses, just not my own. Can anybody advise me on what to do. Also, am I wrong to think that virgin media should send me a new modem or router to solve my problem? They say no, but I am paying them enough each month for my package with them. Luckily my aunt works at a university and is able to get computer software for cheap and since my birthday is coming up she gave me the win7 utlimate upgrade disk as a birthday present. Once I installed it I had problems with the wireless and tried updating the drivers and it didnt work so I talk to hp support and they actually found the solutions my running a windows setup test. I didnt have an anti-virus on it and I know thats my fault but I hear of people that do have an anti-virus and thier hp crashes every other month anyway. I dont really like apple products at all, I cant stand the mindless idiotic fanboys associated with them or the over-rated/over-hypness or the premium that you must pay. At the same time thier are over a million viruses for pc's and just a couple handefulls for mac's and since every pc I have ever used has crashed at least once and some multiple times im condsidering getting a mac. Ive been using pc's for the last 14 years and honestly have never used a modern day macbook or imac so I cant compare them myself from experience. I just know I dont pay hundreds of dollars for a computer to crash so I can sit for hours possibly even days trying to "get to know my computer" or to pay hundreds more to have it repaired, which is why I need to users of both pc's and mac's to help me out. My only needs in a computer are: internet browsing listening to music adobe reader for ebooks youtube movies skype microsoft paint for digital art sticky notes microsoft word getting photos from the internet Im a pretty casual computer user in the sense that I dont really use it for anything much than whats listed above but do spend about 12 hours at a time on it daily. The hp that im using has 8gb's of ram because I like to run a lot of applications at one time so I would need if not that much then at least 6gb's of ram. My parents are great and pay for my tuition and books but because y grades sucked last year and I didn't receive financial aid, I take care of the rest: rent, food, gas, clothes, and anything else really. Being a student I don't have the money to go out and buy a new laptop so would an iPad suffice until I get the money to buy a new laptop? Or should I just go ahead and buy another laptop from a different brand? My needs are just for accessing the Internet and having Microsoft Word to write papers on. Basic is better than nothing. Just a month ago it crashed and then the back made a weird noise. Now there is a weird noise happening every 10 seconds. Not only that but when my computer is in use for about 10 minutes and starts to get warm, it gets very very slow and the mouse/trackpad starts to skip randomly and acting very slow and glitchy, I can't watch YouTube videos or even read a news article without it lagging. I took it into Best Buy 2 weeks ago and they looked at it. They sent it away to get it repaired. When it came back I was pissed to notice this problem was not fixed, however they fixed the wrong thing and fixed my DVD Drive which was broken but I didn't mind. Has anyone else had this problem? I have a hunch that the fan is broken, due to slowness after it getting warm, and the weird noise. I will take it into Best Buy again tomorrow. SO I WAS MOVEING THE REST OF THE PICRTURES AND AN MY ICON SAID, "MEMORY CARD REMOVED", WHICH STOPPED THE MOVING PROCESS, SO I PUSHED IT IN AGAIN AND REDID THE MOVING PROCESS AND IT SAID "MOVED". now, i thought i had moved them, since the photos floder on my phone was empty except for the one picture i wanted to keep. oddly however, my memory status said that i still had 41668 KB in images, and 5224KB in available space, so i selected that and it gave me the 2 floder options" photos" and "doownloaded images". Photos had 300KB (from my picture that i wanted to keep ) and downloaded images had 0KB. So, i was wondering where my phone got the number "41668 KB" since i only had "300KB" and my photos folder was empty except for the one picture. So i put my memory card in the phone again and it said I ONLY HAD THE EIGHT PICTURES I TRANSFERRED MANUALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I PLUGGED THE CARD IN THE COMPUTER AND ONLY 8 PICTURES SHOWED UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT'S GOING ON??? so, i was INSANELY confused and i have come to a conclusion: the 100+ pictures i transferrd at once are hidden in my phone since i have that memory space filled. Also, i know that memory space is filled, since i tested it and it only let me take 15 picture, all adding up to the available space number, 5224KB. Then I noticed Best Buy offers Samsung Infuse 4G for $49.99 which is a great price for a well-reviewed phone. This is the phone that I consider the best choice today. Its rival Samsung Galaxy S II 4G is supposedly a better phone, but it's not worth paying $150 more for it right now. Are there better options than the Infuse 4G? What I need help with is whether or not I should jump at it right now or wait a little longer until end of the year, see if there's something better come up in the market. Thanks. I haven't noticed this before because I recently started playing a game on the laptop which requires me to press the W key to walk and all. But when I wish to go diagonal, I have to press W and D and when I do press those two, I can't rotate my camera with the mouse pad. This doesn't only happen in the game. If I am on the desktop and I press T and Y for example, my mouse doesn't move. I really need this disabled so I can easily play my game and not have this problem again.
